Dish Network loses TV Chile; Adds TeleFormula to Dish Latino lineup

TV Chile No Longer Available – Effective October 3, 2007

Effective October 3, 2007, TV Chile, found on channel 842 in the DishLATINO package and above, will no longer be broadcast on DISH Network.

Starting October 3, customers may enjoy TeleFormula on channel number 858 which will be made available in the DishLATINO package or higher. TeleFormula is broadcast directly from Mexico and features news, sport news and entertainment 24 hours-a-day, with many of Mexico’s favorite stars. TeleFormula is exclusive via Satellite only on DishLATINO from DISH Network.

Since DishTV dropped Azteca for AztecaAmerica, Mexican-Americans in the USA have lacked a channel dedicated to news and features from Mexico. Like Univision and Azteca, the GrupoFormula radio stations, and the primitive looking Teleformula TV show, appear to be in the hip pockets of the avaricious Mexican ruling class -- so no independent voice. But at least the controlled news will arrive in households with DishTV in the USA. We just became aware of Teleformula today, 22/01/2008, on seeing an ad for it while watching CNNE on DishTV.
Too bad, though, the loss of TV Chile, which had much good programming.
