Suddenlink Communications to Raise Cable Rates in Alabama and Louisiana

Subscribers to Suddenlink cable TV services in Huntsville, Alabama are getting ready to face another cable rate increase this November. Limited basic service is slated to increase from $18.99 to $21.24. The increase has been blamed on higher costs of cable networks, fuel, equipment, insurance and more.

For Alexandria residents, Suddenlink Communications may be forced to raise rates mainly as a result of pass-thru charges such as pole usage charges and higher franchise fees dictated by the city. For instance, the customer's annual fee would increase from $1.78 to $13.92 per year due to higher pole usage charges. A final decision has not been made yet as to whether or not Suddenlink will have to raise its rates.

Satellite companies like Dish and DirecTV raise rates as often as cable companies and at approximately the same pace. What's more, with bundling options, cable customers can often get a better deal on total cost of service.

Thanks for your comment, but that is certainly not true. I switched from Comcast myself over 18 months ago and have had only 1 small increase during that entire time. My friends and family that have cable have experienced multiple rate increases over the same span of time. Also, I am proud to say my monthly rate did not grossly inflate after my promotional period as many cable customers experience.
